Discovering Tuscany! I have dreamed of witnessing Tuscany’s charms for as long as I can remember, and that moment had finally arrived!
Driving from La Spieza, Pisa was our first stop. Yes, I needed to see the famous leaning tower of Pisa, but I just didn’t expect to be blown away by it. The Piazza dei Miracoli is absolutely spectacular, a grandiose display of art, no wonder it is considered to be one of the finest architectural complexes in the world.
Arriving in Florence with a desire to see everything! First lunch at La Ménagère, the most beautiful place ever, a concept store and restaurant all under one gorgeous roof. We spent the afternoon strolling around the streets of the city, which is known as one of the most outstanding economical, cultural, political and artistic centers of Italy. When our legs felt like they would give up on us at any point, we awarded ourselves with the most amazing gelato from Carapina!
We chose to stay in Montepulciano for the next few days to enjoy the country side of Tuscany. This town is just one of the numerous beautiful towns across Tuscany that sits atop of a mountain and overlooks lush green valleys. We stayed away from town, to enjoy a bit of tranquility. Salcheto, a boutique hotel offered everything we searched for, beautiful views of its vineyards, beautifully decorated rooms and plenty of wine (all bio by the way). I had plenty of truffle pasta to compliment the outstanding red wine during this trip.
A full day was taken to see many towns around, from Pienza to Val d’orcia and of course the charming Siena. Driving through the scenic roads alone was so enjoyable, I lost count of the times I asked my husband to stop so I could enjoy the view and take some well deserved pictures.
See you soon Switzerland!
