In the center of Dubai lies the most enchanting place ever, The Green Planet. An indoor tropical rainforest with over 3,000 plants, animals and birds. This green oasis is a sanctuary for exotic flora and fauna.
At the entrance, we were greeted by the staff who encouraged us to take many photos and provided us with helpful information! Such a warm welcome. An elevator took us to the top floor where the experience of The Green Planet begins! First thing we see is the Bat Cave to meet some of nature’s most thrilling and wondrous creatures. I am not going to lie, I was a bit scared to enter this dark room, but I am so happy I did. The bats are tiny and we got lucky enough to see a slow loris who was rescued here in Dubai.
We got close and personal with many birds, my favorites were the parrots, toucan, blue macaw and green turaco! It was so beautiful to see them flying around The Green Planet.
How lucky were we to spot a sloth sleeping on a thin tree branch. Did you know they sleep between 15 and 20 hours everyday (similar to my husband)? We waited for some time in hopes she would wake up, but not a chance. From a sleepy head to hyper ones, the squirrel monkeys. They were jumping and climbing from one branch to the other, chasing each other in their little kingdom. Fun fact is that they use their long tail to balance as they move.
I was feeling pretty adventurous by the end of our visit, I even touched an emerald tree boa snake. There is plenty of other animals to see at The Green Planet like turtles, motoro rays and lizards. I recommend going with plenty of time to enjoy the beauty of this place.
