COMO Maalifushi – Maldives

So excited to finally share some details about our stay at COMO Maalifushi. It has been two years since our last trip to the Maldives. We were both extremely excited to return and even more so for the fact that we would be staying at a COMO property once again (you can read about your previous stay at the COMO Cocoa Island here.)

COMO Maalifushi is reached by a 50 minute seaplane flight, followed by a 5 minute speedboat ride. The only luxury resort in the northern Thaa Atoll, deep in the Indian Ocean. An area of the Maldives famous for large waves…so yes people from all over the world go there for surfing! TropicSurf is the in-house surfing school, which operates out of the resort between April and October.

I always love the seaplane ride just to see all the islands from above, I must say COMO Maalifushi looked spectacular from a birds eye view. Approaching the jetty, we could already see the staff happy to great us, we got our fresh coconuts (the best greetings in my book) and taken on to the island to start enjoying our dream stay!

There is a total of 65 villas with 31 of them being over-water (we were lucky to stay in one of them.) A large living space with high ceilings and large glass doors. The center stage of the room is the king size bed facing the Indian Ocean, from where we could see our own private pool and small cabana. The bathroom is equally grand as the rest of our villa, I loved the large tub with the same stunning view.

The resort has two restaurants and my favorite has to be the Japanese one for the view, it is honestly such a magical place to end the day sitting at one of the loungers while watching the sunset! Talk about a picture perfect moment.

You can expect to find many healthy options on the menu of both restaurants as with all COMO properties. I loved all the fresh fruits and juices available daily on the breakfast buffet and to stick to the healthy options we chose our hot dishes from the Shambhala section of the a la-carte menu.

We were pleasantly surprised to see a large garden with many fruits and vegetables, this is one of the many ways the resort maintains its eco-credentials. The resort bottles their own water and there is almost no single use plastic on the island, guests are also encouraged to change their linen and towels every other day.

We kept active riding bikes through the island (each villa gets their own!) and there is a fun daily schedule with activities (even for a rainy day), we loved the daily yoga and we even did a stand up paddle yoga for the first time there! We had the most amazing couples massage at one of eight overwater rooms of the Como Shambhala spa. Talk about being pampered in style!

Our stay at COMO Maalifushi was simply unforgettable. There is no denying that the property is stunning, a perfect example of understated luxury. But what really makes this property so special, is how each staff looks after their guest with so much love and care. This being our second time staying at a COMO property, we can now say that we are hooked and hope to enjoy their renowned services very soon!
